Chini Ka Rauza, Agra

Situated just a kilometer north of Itmad-ud-Daullah's Tomb in Agra , the Chini ka Rauza is the beautiful tomb of Allama Afzal Khan, the Prime Minister of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan who built the world-renowned Taj Mahal. Built in 1635 AD, the beautiful monument clearly reflects the typical Persian influence on the Mughal architectural style. The Chini ka Rauza derives its name from the Persian word chini or the tiles, which are used in decorating its wall and ceilings. The beautiful geometric and floral arabesque done in multi-colored tiles, add a special character to the mausoleum that never fails to impress the visitors.

Chini Ka Rauza
Chini ka Rauza in Agra is a beautiful rectangular shaped monument with a bulbous tomb, decorated in the style of an inverted lotus flower. The structure has a central octagonal chamber with eight arched recess, decorated with inscriptions and intricate inlay work done in blue colored tiles.

The inscriptions are bordered by blue green and yellow tiles, providing a glazing look to the tomb. It's said that the Chini ka Rauza used to have elegant gateways with two intricately carved towers, but unfortunately all that is left today is the main tomb, which itself in a state of complete neglect. You must visit this ornate edifice of the Mughal era on your Agra Travel with Taj Tourism to get an idea of architectural richness of the Mughal period.
